A small site about a direction of flow, built around one free federal document and one sentence almost nobody says.

Key point

Backflow assemblies are tested by certified testers, and nobody at CrossConnect is one. The site belongs to NXTA Flow, it certifies nobody and performs no testing, and what it sets out about cross-connection control is taken from EPA’s manual.

CrossConnect is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect property owners and managers with independent contractors. Backflow assembly testing is normally restricted to testers holding a specific certification and using calibrated equipment, and the report usually has to reach your water purveyor — ask to see the certification and ask who files the report. We carry out no testing, we certify nobody, we do not set prices, and we never charge callers anything. Nothing here selects a device for any installation or states that any assembly is passing.

What CrossConnect is for

CrossConnect is a referral service operated by NXTA Flow. We connect property owners and managers with independent contractors for backflow prevention assembly testing, repair and installation.

It is built around a single sentence: the assembly you are required to test almost certainly protects the public main from your building rather than your building from anything. Once a reader has that, the rest of the subject arranges itself.

The manual behind it

One document carries everything on this site that states anything, and it is named and linked on every page that uses it:

Everything else here is mechanism and method. None of it asserts a measurement, so none of it needs a citation it could not support.

What it will not say

Which device an installation needs. How often anything must be tested. Whether an assembly is passing. A price. And anything at all about the water at any address. Each of those is explained on its own page rather than left as a silence.

Know what is on the tag before you call.Make, model, size and the date of the last test are usually stamped or tagged on the assembly itself, and they decide which test kit and which paperwork the visit needs. We will route you to somebody who covers your area, selected on the ZIP code of the property, and you are never charged. Backflow is our specialty, though the number will take any plumbing request on the property.
